Mentoring

Mentoring?

As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.

Proverbs 27:17, NLT

As your mentor, I’ll help sharpen your ability to apply God’s Word to your life so you can improve your overall health—spirit, soul, and body.

In order to be truly healthy, we need to ‘sharpen’ all the different aspects of our selves. The point? We can’t be healthy in one area and ignore the remainder! That would be like vacuuming one small corner of a rug and expecting the whole thing to come clean. Take a look over here for more details.

How?

Acts 3 tells of the Apostles Peter and John healing a lame man. In Acts 4, Peter and John were teaching in the temple that the dead will rise in Jesus. When the religious leaders of the day jailed and questioned them regarding under whose authority they were committing these acts, Peter replied that the man was healed by the name of Jesus Christ.

Regarding spiritual mentoring, I do not have any letters behind my name to indicate that I’ve spent time in school learning how to coach or counsel you from a biblical perspective. But neither did Peter.

Jesus does the healing. Not man.

God put it on my heart to help you avoid the mistakes I’ve made. I want to make absolutely certain you know how valuable you are. To that end, I’ll help you find and apply the scriptures that are relevant to your life today, so your faith will be stronger tomorrow. Sometimes going about this process is something you can do on your own, but sometimes t’s not so easy.

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.

Ecclesiastes 4:9, NLT

Speaking of ‘older’ women, Titus 2:4 says “…then they can advise the younger women…”

These two verses embody my approach to mentoring.

Regarding health mentoring, I am a certified Primal Health Coach. Often times mental, emotional, and spiritual issues affect our physical health. So, it’s important to address all of the above prior to expecting to see gains from diet changes and new physical activities. Once we’re squared away in our hearts, we can focus on our bodies.

What is ‘Primal’ you might ask? Read more here. It’s the philosophy—based on my own experiences and experiments—that has helped me improve my own physical health. Dramatically. Primal is adaptable and you can be as strict—or as lenient—as you’d like to be with it. Obviously, results are proportional to which end of the scale you lean toward.

The evolutionary basis of the Primal philosophy is a stumbling block for me sometimes, considering my Christian faith. It’s based primarily on how humans evolved to live, and what they evolved to eat. Ironically though, even though the Primal philosophy isn’t based on Christian beliefs, it does align quite well with numerous Biblical teachings!

Many of the principals of Primal living are based on new scientific evidence that mirror principals outlined in the Bible millennia ago.
